Countdown to Christmas HardwareYou can't just plug in christmas lights to an electrical outlet, pop a cd in a boombox, and expect them to animate themselves. There's hardware involved. Most of it is relatively simple to obtain, if you're willing to buy online. And while it's not exorbitantly expensive, the costs can add up. Below I've listed the hardware that we've used to animate our display.
This does not include any lights. It also does not include extension cords. I've lost track of the number of times we had to run to the store to buy more extension cords. Remember, when you're animating, sometimes each string of lights needs it's own extension cord. If I had to estimate, I'd say we easily have $500.00 in extension cords. And that's probably a low estimate. I intend to take a full inventory as we take down the lights.
